I went with SkyFire after getting three quotes for a solar system for our house. I was most impressed with SkyFire's proposal, pricing and I liked that they came out to do an in-person visit before giving us a final quote. I was really impressed with them throughout the entire process and I couldn't be happier with our system! They are extremely professional and were quick to respond with any questions I had. The installation was seamless and I was impressed with the workmanship and professionalism of the installation team. They also went above and beyond to fit us in late last year so that we could not lose out on the $5,000 Greener Homes Grant. I highly recommend them for others looking to have a system installed!

I had been cold-called by another solar panel installation company and received a quote. I then checked around and found SkyFire to be a company who had been around quite awhile with a good reputation. I asked for a quote from them and the experience from that point was fantastic. An advisor came to our home and was professional and courteous. He took the time to explain the basics of how solar panels work and how they would be installed on our roof. Within a couple of days, I received a technical drawing and quote, which was much lower than the quote from the other company. They were also helpful in navigating the pre-retrofit inspection and Canada Greener Homes Loan process. After patiently waiting for my loan approval, they scheduled our install which went smoothly. The project manager was very good to deal with and she guided the team and myself with the same professionalism. Once installed, there was a small glitch in the system but they dispatched a service team quickly and the problem was resolved. Once fully installed and working at 100%, the project manager also gave me valuable tips on how to use the monitoring app and take full advantage of becoming a micro-generator, including joining a solar club and receiving carbon offset credits. I would highly recommend SkyFire Energy if you are considering installing solar panels.

They clearly explained the solar system design, costs, and expected performance, making the entire process stress-free. During our Deep Energy Retrofit, our General Contractor recommended that we use SkyFire for our Solar Panel installation, since he has worked with SkyFire before and trusts their work. After going through the design and installation processes, and after 8 months of use, we are in total agreement. SkyFire visited in the fall of 2024 and used a drone to take videos of the house and garage, including the trees in our yard and in the neighbors' yards. They used this to develop a 3D model of the site so they could determine how many panels would fit on the garage and house. We selected the garage as the site of phase one of our installation, primarily because the shingles needed to be replaced which we did with a metal roof for longevity and ease of solar panel installation. They also calculated the expected output given the orientation and slope of the roof and the shading from the trees. There was paperwork required with Enmax, to enable us to register for microgeneration, which SkyFire handled without problems. Skyfire prepared a detailed quote and in the spring of 2025 we had the panels installed. This went very smoothly. We elected to have a snow fence put along the bottom edge of the west side, to avoid having snow slide off the panels on to the neighbor's sidewalk, and we also had a "rodent fence" installed to stop small animals and birds from setting up housekeeping under the panels. Over the course of the summer we generated more power than we consumed, and the amount was in fact higher than predicted by SkyFire. There was a brief communication problem between the control unit inside the house and the inverters on the garage roof, so SkyFire came and we relocated the control unit so it was closer to the garage and this has worked fine ever since. Now that the snow has arrived, the generation is much lower, but when the snow melts off the panels we do generate some power and at some times during the day we can still produce more than the amount we are consuming for short periods. Overall we are very happy customers and we will be engaging SkyFire to install panels on the roof of the house when the shingles need to be replaced as we plan to install a metal roof like on our garage. This will complete our transition to net-zero!

I first came across SkyFire over 10 years ago at a Calgary Home Expo when solar was still new in Alberta. They stood out for their passion for renewable energy and their deep knowledge of PV technologies and system design. At that time, I knew they would be a strong contender if I ever decided to install a system of my own. This past spring, I finally made the decision to join the solar community. I received more than seven quotes for a 10kW system on our Calgary home, many through the SolarAlberta RFP portal. Most companies quoted similar equipment and designs, which made comparisons straightforward. SkyFire’s pricing was the most competitive and included premium installation details such as all-black racking and rodent guards as standard features, which I appreciated and most companies charged extra for. I did have to wait six months for my turn in their installation queue, but for a system that will be in service for 25 years, I think a quality installation backed by quality service was worth it. The crew was professional, courteous, and left the site clean. The lead installer even pointed out unrelated attic issues he noticed, which was a thoughtful touch. Project management was excellent throughout the process—from design and permitting to installation and final approval. Communication was clear at every stage, and it’s obvious that SkyFire has their residential installation processes down to a science I believe in rewarding companies that deliver great service. I’d encourage you to get your own quotes from SolarAlberta, but you should think very carefully if you weren’t to choose SkyFire. They're worth the wait.
