I went in for a color and cut this past weekend. I was booked with Julie, but my hair caught the attention of Joey, the curly hair expert. They helped out with my color, and volunteered to take over when it came to my hair cut. I discovered I actually have awesome curly hair and not the "wavy / frizzy" hair I believed I had and hated my whole life. Joey just cured my lifetime of hair insecurities just because they cared to step in even though I wasn't even booked with them in the first place. Throughout my haircut, they educated me so much on how to care for my hair and shared a very low effort routine that works for me as a busy mom of twin toddlers who doesn't have much time for hair styling. I left the appointment feeling so good. I waited a few days to post this review because I've had far too many hair appointments at other places with styling that only looks good until the next wash. Well I just washed my hair and did exactly what Joey told me to do, and for the first time, I LOVE my hair and its curls. On top of the amazing hair expertise, both Joey and Julie were soo nice and fun and just great to spend time with ❤️

I scheduled a same day appointment with Jessica, and i could not be happier with how it turned out! She listened to what i wanted and gave me great advice about the cut and how to style. 10/10 experience, i love my new hair!

I've been going to Shag for a few years now and Julie is a hair savior! I've been going through quite the hair journey of trying to get my hair healthy again and growing it out (after over 10+ years of bleach box coloring it myself). Julie does an amazing job of colour matching to my natural root colour and helping me get it healthy again. If you're struggle with your current hair situation and feel like pulling a Britney 🪒 is the only way to start over, go see Julie!

Small parking in front and back. Free On street parking within walking distance. Angela was friendly, professional, and fun! I arrived a bit early and was provided with coffee and reading material 🤓☕️ It’s a bit bigger unique, salon with so much to look at. Artwork from local artists, they are for sale. I was just looking for a clean up and was in and out in good time!

I’d like to start off my saying I do not ever write reviews, especially bad ones, because I understand that for many people their jobs are their livelihood. But after thinking about this for a few days and just being more and more sad about how my hair looks, I decided I need to speak up because I didn’t at the time. And honestly, I’d like to be reached out to if I don’t reach out myself at some point. I didn’t have the courage to do it then and thought I could get over my disappointment but I just can’t. Booked in with Cassidy as a same day appt. I did my due diligence by calling Shag and asking for her Instagram, so I could look at her portfolio. It looked great. I was also reassured that she has been in the industry for several years by the receptionist I spoke too (that was very important to me). When I sat down in the chair and was showing Cassidy photos of what I was looking for, she really didn’t see like she was interested in listening to me. It felt like I was trying my best to explain what I wanted (given I am not a hairdresser so I don’t know every term in the book) but she either didn’t understand (and if this was the case, then ask for clarification) or wasn’t interested in listening to what I wanted. I had very long hair and was ready for short hair. What I was not prepared for was the layers and their choppiness she left me with. Somehow she managed to spend two hours on my hair and yet didn’t blend layers in properly at all. Frankly, I look at my hair and to me it’s what a punk rock artist would have. I wear glasses, so it’s difficult for me to see what’s happening during the haircut. When I finally put my glasses back on, I really had no idea how to react to the haircut, except tell her that I liked it because there was no going back at that point. Also not sure how she took 2 hours to do my hair when my regular stylist (who is not available right now) can do my hair in an hour (and leave it looking amazing). Ended up charging me $95 and I tipped $20. Such a horrible experience. I got in my car and was balling my eyes out. My hair looked like it was from the 70s. I’ve had my fair-share of bad cuts but this one is really the worst I’ve ever had. I cannot believe the amount that I paid and what I’m left with now. My self-confidence has gone down the drain. I couldn’t even attend a wedding today because of how upset I am with my hair.
