We were disappointed with the lack of cost transparency at this clinic. My stepson is on a fixed income and enrolled in the new government dental subsidy program. As a new patient, he booked what we understood to be a routine cleaning, reasonably expecting most or all of it to be covered. Instead, he received a $300 bill without being given any upfront estimate of the total cost or his expected out-of-pocket portion. We understand that dental offices set their own fees and that coverage varies. The concern is not simply the fee — it’s the absence of advance financial disclosure. Routine hygiene appointments typically involve standardized services such as scaling (time-based units), polishing, and possibly fluoride. These are billed using provincial fee guide codes, and most offices can provide at least a reasonable estimate or cost range beforehand. Even if scaling time can vary, a projected range should be possible. When we raised this, we were told the clinic does not provide estimates in advance. For non-emergency, predictable services, especially when treating patients on limited income, this approach creates unnecessary financial strain and does not allow for informed financial consent. Six-month recall intervals may be standard, but when someone is on a fixed income, the financial implications of that frequency matter. Patients should be clearly informed of expected costs before treatment so they can make responsible decisions. We hope the clinic will reconsider its approach to cost transparency. Clear communication upfront would prevent unexpected financial burdens and build greater trust with patients who rely on government assistance or live on fixed incomes.

Dr.Berg has been my dentist for over 20 years. His approach to patient care is kind, patient and gentle. The odd time I’ve had to see an alternative dentist none compare to the quality of service and friendliness I’ve come to appreciate at Orchard Park Dental. Jackie, Jess and Kristie are long term friendly faces I look forward to seeing during my visit. Most recently I had to have an emergency root canal as I was in so much pain and waiting one more week I thought I was going to die. Jackie squeezed me in and Dr.Berg quickly fixed me up. I’m never scared or worried for my dental care as I know they will always take care of me. My first root canal was a huge success, and a day later I had no pain. I’m very thankful for his approach to patient care and I look forward to my next visit in 3weeks to complete my root canal. Feeling blessed Thank you :-)

Highly recommend this dental office. Staff is friendly and I had the best cleaning ever in my last appointment with Monica. She was gentle and thorough and my teeth feel shiny and new. Dr Berg is very thorough and does great work.

Dr Berg is very professional and provides excellent care. He explains each procedure so you feel comfortable. Jessica and Dr Berg were a great team together when I had a few fillings replaced. They were always checking to see if I was OK throughout the procedure. Jackie and Bonnie are so welcoming and always smiling and willing to help when you walk into the office . …. and to add “ I will miss you Bev .. you were amazing at cleaning my teeth ! Grace
