Booked the removal & simple gel design package for $97+ and 1.5-2hr. I was done in just over an hour, which included removal of my previous pair + filing/shaping. The budget I gave was less than $200, and the experience ended up costing exactly what I said my budget was (definitely over $120). I gave the nail stylist a picture of what I wanted, they asked me for a budget, and got started. I was told the outcome wouldn't look exactly the same as the picture but I don't know what the outcome would've looked like nor did I get a quote on the price (I only found out at the till). After they were done filing, they asked me if the length/shape was fine. There were still hang nails but the general shape of it was good (or so I thought) so I said yes, thinking that they will now buff and file it so it's more smoother. They immediately went to applying polish. To be fair, the stylist was very quick and efficient. The art was very pretty, however they only applied 1 layer of polish, the nails with art had no top coat (not sure if thats the nature of that art type, but the nail is very bumpy due to the art), and the stylist never double checked to see if I was okay with what was done. I didn't realize I was done until they started applying cuticle oil and sent me to the till. When I got home and inspected my nails again, I realized some of the nails were not shaped right. If it wasn't for the art being very pretty, I would've given lesser stars. As is, I would say the stylist is very skilled, but I wouldn't go back. Edit: thank you for your reply. It seems to be a miscommunication. I was planning to give back a higher rating, however I also noticed at week 3 the nails have already started to be flaky (?) and have air pockets underneath. My previous set that I had for 2 months didn't have this issue.

Just flew in to Vancouver on the afternoon of NYE and needed a last minute mani. This was super close to my hotel I was staying at and called if they can accommodate walk-ins. Luckily they were and scurried my happy bum to the salon. I think my nail technician’s name is Miyami and she’s super nice and super awesome! She did my nails and I am extremely happy with the results! I totally lucked out! If I’m in town again, I definitely will come back to this place because they do really good work. Arigatougozaimasu!

I have been doing my nail here for 6 years. This is the most professional and best nail salon in Vancouver. I am very happy that they moved to Holt Renfrew recently, making it easier to park and I can have a simple shopping every time. I especially like this Christmas style nail. The same style in other nail salons will be much more expensive than here. My nail technician is Kazuyo, patient and the best!

So happy to have met Yasushi, I don’t trust anyone else with my manicures! Love that I can give him a general vibe and he’d run with it to create a set that I couldn’t have otherwise described. Thank you so much to the Kaen team for continuously taking such great care of me throughout all these years.

I lucked out when Yasushi was highly recommended to me after my long term nail guru retired. I have had a standing appointment for gel nails every two weeks (and pedis every four ) since 2019 (!!) so I can attest to the consistency and quality of Yasushi’s work. Speedy while being a perfectionist? Yes please!!! The salon is immaculate as will be your fingers and toes after an hour at Kaen. There is no better nail salon in Vancouver.
