The explanation on the website of the different tiers of haircuts was very easy to understand and online booking was super straightforward. At my appointment the entire staff was super friendly and welcoming. Ashley was AMAZING! I went there for a dramatic chop of my hair and she spent a lot of time talking with me and looking over photos to make sure she knew exactly what I wanted. She checked in multiple times throughout about length and was very gentle. I LOVE my haircut and will 100% be back in the future!

I love this place! I had my hair cut from super long to short! Jordy talked me through the process, and honestly, I have never had a better haircut in my life. Jordy is talented. Some hairdressers can cut hair, but Jordy knows and understands how your hair works, how it lays, if it has curls...all that stuff. The assistant at the front is super friendly, too. Highly recommend. This was a great experience.

I feel very cared for by the Empire team - from making my appt on the phone to walking in the door, having my hair coloured by Ashley and my cut with Daniel. They have come to feel in a way like family - I’ve never experienced that at a salon. Thank you!!!

My stylist was Alyxis. The consultation process was very thorough and helpful but when I arrived I was first told that I would not be able to get my inspo picture anymore because my hair pulled orange. I would have thought a test strand would be in order first, to ensure that we could actually make my hair work. Had I known at first that my inspo picture wasn’t possible, I would not have gone through with the appointment. Then I was told I had way more hair than originally thought so she was not going to be able to straighten my hair because it has to sit longer and she has an afternoon client. She cancelled her afternoon client to accommodate that which was nice. I wanted some root leave out so it would blend and grow out not in a harsh line, but she created a harsh line with the roots showing. It was very amateurish. The price was not re-discussed after I was told I had way more hair than originally thought. If it had been re-discussed I would have changed my mind, as my hair was $200 more than I originally thought. So that was not a fun surprise when I got to the register. She also should have communicated it was going to take longer than the original 4 hours, as I had to pick up my passport by 4pm as I was travelling that week but I didn’t leave the studio until 4pm. All in all it felt amateurish and unprofessional in some instances. The harsh line in my root leave out is unfortunate and the underside of my hair is grey and not blonde. She said it would lighten with me washing my hair but I wish I wouldn’t have saved myself the $530 and went somewhere else where they could have done what I asked. I submitted all this information to a feedback request and was told someone would reach out to make things right or see what they could do. My appointment was on August 1/25 and it’s been over a month now and I have still not heard anything so I am sharing my experience.

My barber Jordy was fantastic! Great conversation, very welcoming and the haircut was well done. Best I’ve had in a long time. The atmosphere was very clean and open. The staff I had interaction with were fantastic!! Thank you Charlotte (reception) for being welcoming as I entered, Jordy for the haircut and Crystal for the warm goodbye!

Jordy was great if you're looking for someone who's great with curls. They didn't just cut my hair beautifully, they also educated me with practical and easy ways to keep my hair looking great that fits my lifestyle. The service from the whole team was really friendly, the location is great if you're close to downtown, and it's priced incredibly fairly. Thank you!
