The guys working at BCAA are very professional and helpful. They clearly communicated what was going on with my car. The only challenge was that they were extremely understaffed, and it kept getting pushed days later for them to look at my car. But that was nobody’s fault, and the guys that helped me were great! I would go back again.

The worst service and I’m doned! I went for my usual service last nov 27, 2025 in Victoria bcaa auto service and leave for a trip for 2 weeks after that, When i drove it again last week after my trip I notice that my wheels is leaning towards left which isnt an issue prior to the service, So i went today tell the problem as i say it might be a wheel alignment or something because i dont know as i am not a mechanic and the guy in the counter just want me to book a wheel alignment not untill jan 27! I told him i couldnt wait that long and what if i got to an accident before that and he just reply then you went to an accident! I told him if he might atleast vheck it and they just re torqued my wheels without checking! He said He dont have a mechanic for me right now which does not the case when i booked my service and pay! Im gonna cancel my bcaa membership as well as it isnt worth it!!!!!

I — perhaps foolishly — assumed that a BCAA shop would provide reputable, honest service. Unfortunately, the BCAA Auto Service Centre on Bay St in Victoria quoted me thousands of dollars to repair a problem that didn't exist on my vehicle. When the AC belt on my Subaru blew in August, I had my vehicle towed by BCAA to this service centre, where they replaced the AC belt. When I picked up my car, they also noted that the coolant line needed replacing, and I was provided a quote for this work. A month or so later, I brought my vehicle in for this repair. They called me mid-afternoon to share some tough news: the coolant line was not the issue; they had discovered that the head gaskets were completely blown, and would need to be replaced. They provided an estimate of around $5-6 grand for this work — more than the worth of the car. The person I spoke to on the phone went so far as to tell me the vehicle was not in safe condition to drive off the lot, despite having been driven in merely hours earlier with no issue. When I arrived to further discuss the situation, an employee again stated that the head gaskets were completely blown. I informed them that it was unlikely, considering the head gaskets had been replaced by a reputable shop approximately 3 years ago, and the vehicle has been minimally driven since. Their story then changed to the head gaskets “are going to” blow, and “it’s only a matter of time” - which raised an immediate red flag for me amidst the already-fishy situation. They went back and forth on providing an actual quote to me of the cost for head gasket replacement, and instead wrote it vaguely in pen on my existing receipt. They were apologetic, went back on their statement of my vehicle being unsafe to drive, and knocked $100 off the price of the coolant line replacement, but still requested I pay for the remaining nearly ~$400 of the completed repair, despite it having been a misdiagnosis on their part. Since bringing my vehicle to BCAA over 6 weeks ago, my vehicle has continued to have NO signs of head gasket failure - no overheating; no smoke; no hard starts; nothing. I brought it to another shop for a second opinion, and they confirmed that the head gaskets are NOT failing. My vehicle is an older Subaru, which I’m well aware are notorious for head gasket issues. I can only guess that this was low-hanging fruit to leverage my perceived lack of car knowledge into additional, unnecessary work and money. I will not be trusting this shop with my vehicles in the future. I would highly encourage readers to bring their vehicles elsewhere for repairs.

Absolutely horrible experience last time I went in for service. Your workers broke my glove box during a routine oil change while doing an inspection. They attempted to open the compartment, looking for the cabin air filter WHICH WAS NOT in the glove box. When returning home I realized they had actually broken the mechanism to open and the compartment was stuck. I immediately called and scheduled an appointment for your workers to open and fix it. Your workers were unable to open the compartment and further broke the mechanism all while I wasted an hour and a half of my day waiting for the service to be finished. They then refused to pay for a new glove box insinuating it was my fault because the glove box, which I had not believed they would open during an oil change, was too full. They instead gave me a free oil change and promise of free installation of a new glove box after I purchased it. One they quoted from mini cooper being $800. I do not know much about cars which is why I went to your team for services over the last 3 years because of your reliable reputation. I myself was able to open my glove compartment with a wire coat hanger and a metal straw. I have no idea what your staff were doing during the time I gave them my car. I have now been driving around with an open, useless glove box that fills me with more frustration every time I look at it. I have taken my free oil change and will not be returning for any service again.

Further to my earlier post. BCAA Service Centre (Owner) replied asking I email them at a specific address. I replied to their request only to have an automatic rejection of my email for not being on the "allowed senders list". Phoned the service center and they said that email was wrong and provided another. I forwarded it but have received absolutely no response. I guess when caught falsely quoting for work/ parts not required you don't want to acknowledge it. Original post: Quoted $1630 saying I needed a new alternator and battery "for starters", without disclosing the only real issue was a $40 serpentine belt was broken off / missing. After a total power failure on top of Malahat BCAA suggested towing to their service center and a 10% discount. 5 business days later I received the diagnostic and quote that both alternator and battery needed replacing, twice saying "for starters". $1630.00 (10% discount?) seemed high when I could do it myself in a couple hours for under $600 in parts so I opted to pay the $224 "diagnostic" fee and tow home. Upon opening the hood it was readily obvious there was no belt on the vehicle and I was being scammed by BCAA. When diagnosing charging issues the first two things any mechanic will check is the battery terminal connections and tension of the belt. There is no way they missed this, nor any way the alternator was tested. It took about a half hour to check all the pulleys/ tensioner and put in a new belt and everything is testing / running fine. Full disclosure, I did opt to replace the battery as it was still under partial warranty, and not terribly expensive, but am seriously kicking myself for not having it tested before exchanging it. Apparently the $224 diagnostic involved opening the hood, seeing there was no belt and writing up a quote for parts and labor not required. Had I not towed the vehicle home I would never have been the wiser, and no doubt would have experienced an additional charge when they took it apart and decided my belt needed replacing as well. I am telling everyone I know this story and considering contacting the BBB as well. It really does a disservice to reputable repair shops. It makes me question how many of the "good" reviews were unsuspecting customers who had unnecessary work performed?

Got my car in and the staff recognized the issue after testing, and got my fuel injectors replaced and battery and now my car runs fantastic. Very professional and nice staff. Definitely will go back for my auto needs. Explained everything without adding additional costs.
