Alvis is amazing. His level of professionalism, knowledge and decades of experience is unmatched. I got the Japanese hair straightening. And what a freedom not to worry about my hair every morning. Just wash and go. It has been a month since Alvis did my hair and it still looks nice. Reasonable price with a quality service. I would come back again. Thank you Alvis.

I started going to ZHAPE after having several bad experiences elsewhere in the city. The level of professionalism is apparent from the moment you step foot inside the studio. The space is clean, well kept and thoughtfully maintained by Alvis (Head Stylist / Owner) and his team. Alvis is a seasoned professional who is skilled and understands his craft. He listens to exactly what his clients want and often makes thoughtful recommendations to enhance the final result. His attention to details also elevates an already excellent experience to the next level. This boutique hair studio is a true gem in Vancouver - outstanding customer service, warm and welcoming vibe, and consistently exceptional results. I've been going to Zhape for many, many years. I'm always impressed with the level of professionalism from Alvis each and every time. He's always very accommodating of my schedule and he always has a positive attitude. It's hard to describe it, but you know that feeling you get when your hair is cut and/or coloured just right? I get that feeling after visiting Alvis at Zhape!

Do NOT go for hair color here. This was my first time at this salon, and it was a complete disaster. The Japanese stylist [Alvin] burned my natural hair and even my scalp. He didn’t wash my hair properly, so my head was covered in leftover bleach powder. I felt pain because he clearly didn’t know how to apply bleach to the roots at the right time. I asked for platinum blonde, but I ended up with half orange hair instead. To make it worse, he tried to hide his poor work by curling the ends of my hair. At first, the front looked okay, so I paid for it—but once I got home, I saw that the back of my hair was still orange. I honestly don’t know who gave him a license for hair coloring. He even increased the price on the day of the appointment. I paid more than I would at other salons because I thought he was a professional—but I was completely wrong. He ruined my entire hair. Don’t waste your time and money here for hair coloring.
