I had a great experience working with Whyte Mechanical. They completed a furnace upgrade to my house in February 2026 and were wonderful to work with. Super knowledgeable, helpful, efficient and a great crew! I'm very happy with my new furnace and the work they did. You can feel confident with their work- I highly recommend Whyte Mechanical. Thank you Conor and team!

We’ve had Whyte Mechanical provide HVAC services in the past (heat pump installation at our previous address) so when our in-floor heating system at the new place quit, we didn’t hesitate to call. Both Diarmid and Michael were friendly, professional, and did a great job in identifying the issue then repairing the system in a timely fashion. Highly recommended.

Amateur service at a premium cost. Cannot recommend. I received three unsolicited texts insisting I review, so here you are: I was referred to Conor Whyte, whom I texted. After a couple business days with no response I called and left a message on a generic "this customer is unavailable" voicemail inbox. My call was returned by someone else who met me with "What do you want?" despite both my text and voicemail including that detail. I offered the make and model of dishwasher to further outline the job, but that information was declined. On the service date 'Mikey' (Michael?) was polite and respectful, although made two comments that revealed he had never installed this brand of dishwasher (Bosch). He eventually informed me he was unable to fit the thread for one connection, suspecting it was previously used or damaged. After at least an hour of Michael repeatedly leaving to 'try other parts' from his truck and searching on his phone, as well as my own time spent on the phone with the retailer preparing an exchange, Michael found a bag of 'missing parts' inside the dishwasher. After this was resolved, Michael continued to intermittently disappear, presumably continuing the repeated trips to his vehicle. The install required a power outlet, instead of the loose wires for the previous model, so Michael installed one, under the sink, facing up. I told him there can be minor water leakage in that area and an open outlet is an obvious hazard. He shrugged it off and told me to get a child safety plug. I will be either relocating the box or obtaining a proper waterproof housing. All in, the service took three hours. I did have Michael assess another job, a tub drain incorrectly installed by a previous plumber, that he was unable to action on. Let's be generous and say that was one hour, so our dishwasher install took two. The invoice was unexpectedly high, revealing I was quoted not by the hour but by the 'half hour', effectively doubling their rate. I called out this discrepancy, as well as the excessive time lost, but received no further response, likely because I paid their full invoice, which I regret doing. I feel disrespected and taken advantage of. TLDR: + Job was completed - Poor communication - Inexperienced - Wasted at least one full hour - Left with an electrical hazard I need to resolve on my own. - No acknowledgement of shared concerns

Chris did an amazing job helping us install a new generator recently. The entire project ran smoothly from start to finish, with clear planning and communication at every step. He is very knowledgeable about all generator-related matters and provided thorough analysis and suggestions regarding location, capacity, and the installation process. He was also fully transparent about all associated costs. The build quality is also superb, with solid materials used for the pipes and power lines, adding to our peace of mind for all gas- and electric-related components. It was a pleasure working with a professional like Chris, and I would gladly recommend his services.

Our contractor hired Whyte Mechanical to complete the plumbing for our bathroom renovations. Initially, we were satisfied with their work and had no major concerns. However, during their most recent visit, we had an extremely upsetting experience that has led me to write this review to warn others. We had made it explicitly clear to both our contractor and the workers that one of the upstairs rooms was not to be opened, as we keep our indoor cats in there for their safety while work is being done in the house. Despite this, the Whyte Mechanical team not only entered that room without permission, but used power tools to cut a hole in the wall, causing loud noises and leaving the cats terrified. I was alarmed when one of the workers casually came downstairs and said, “One of your cats is hiding under a bed, I don’t know if you want to deal with that or not.” At that moment, I realized they had entered the room we specifically told them to avoid. I immediately went upstairs and found one of my cats trembling under a bed in a separate room. When I finally coaxed him out and went to put him back in their room, I found drywall dust all over the floor. A half-empty box from a different room was partially covering a hole in the wall and the other two cats were cowering in the corner. This hole was big enough for a cat to crawl into, and no one informed me about it. They also had let one escape and with exterior doors and windows open (some without screens), this poses a serious safety risk to my fully indoor cat. To be clear, I was home the entire time, and no one asked for my permission to enter the room, cut into the wall, or move my belongings. They also left the room filthy, covered in drywall dust, which was only cleaned after our contractor stepped in. Their actions put all three of our cats at serious risk, one could have been trapped inside the wall, and another could have easily been lost outside. I also heard them stomping around, yelling and laughing 30 minutes prior which I’m assuming is when they were chasing my cat around (again I was not informed). Beyond the serious safety concerns, they left a general mess throughout the home: wet cardboard, muddy boot prints (including on a rolled-up rug in another room), and dirty rags and garbage left behind. They cut two holes in the drywall without informing me, and again, without permission. Throughout our entire six-month renovation, we’ve never experienced such a blatant disregard for the safety of our pets, the cleanliness of our home, or the respect of our privacy. While our contractor has since addressed this with Whyte Mechanical, I have not received any communication or apology from the company directly. Mistakes can happen during renovations, I fully understand that. But what I cannot tolerate is the negligent, careless behavior that put my pets’ lives at risk, and the complete lack of respect for our home. I would strongly caution others when considering Whyte Mechanical, especially if you have pets or expect basic professionalism in your home. I have included photos of the state of our home after their visit to provide further context.
