Please note: The 2 stars are out of respect for Dr. Steinebach as he was my trusted, family vet for almost 30 years. My cat became ill last November 2025. After blood work and an ultra sound I was told my cat had kidney disease. One of her kidney's was smaller than the other and showed a "bumpy" appearance. I was called while she was still under anesthetic for the ultra sound and it was suggested that in order to further investigate the cause of the damaged kidney, they wanted to do a biopsy on the kidney. I was quoted $1500 for this procedure. I declined this and brought my cat home. No other alternatives were offered to me. After a few days I called and spoke to Dr. Steinebach asking for information on how to treat a cat with kidney disease. Some information was given. Over the next few weeks/months my cat declined in health and would not eat or drink water. A few medications were prescribed, but there was only small improvements. I decided to take my cat to another vet. After blood tests and another ultra sound it was discovered my cat did not have a damaged kidney. Although the one kidney was smaller, it was probably the way she was born. I personally saw these results. My cat was euthanatized. They also had a pathologist look at my cat and they discovered the same results, no kidney disease. All this true information can be confirmed with the veterinary office that Valley Vet sent my cats records to in late January 2026. I was going to be charged $1500 to biopsy a healthy kidney. I could never trust this veterinary office again with any animals I have in the future.

I’m not someone who normally complains, but I really feel the need to share my experience with your clinic regarding the euthanasia of my 15-year-old cat.
For a $634 procedure, I was highly disappointed with how things were handled.
We arrived on time and were placed in a private room for the procedure, which I truly appreciated given how emotional I was. My cat had already received the relaxant provided by the clinic. He was still conscious and a bit vocalizing from his carrier.
The veterinarian came in, spoke with us, and confirmed our decision. He then told us he would take our cat for about 10–15 minutes to insert the catheter for the euthanasia and administer a light sedative. He reassured us that everything would go smoothly from there. After that, someone came to take payment. We waited... and waited. Something didn’t feel right.
About like 30 minutes later, the vet finally returned and apologized, saying they had difficulty inserting the catheter. They brought our cat back in, and he was so sedated that he looked completely lifeless. They laid him on the table, but he didn’t react to my touch. His eyes were half-closed, and he wasn’t blinking. I wanted to hold his paw during the injection, but it was unnaturally cold and i was repel. A few seconds later, the vet told us his heart had stopped. We were told we could stay with him as long as we wanted, but we left almost immediately.
This cat helped me through two major depressive episodes. He was like an emotional support animal to me. He was so important for me. If his condition was expected to be that unresponsive, we should have been warned. It didn’t feel like a proper goodbye. Even days later, I still feel like that last moment with him was taken from me.

Have been bringing our rescue dog here for a few years now and have always received the best service and care. Our dog was so nervous (having been a rescued stray) but the kindness and patience of all the staff, along with Dr Steinebach’s skills & experience have made all of our visits easy. Over the years of pet ownership, I have found that some vets are great with animals but not people and some vice versa, but this team are great with the clients at both ends of the leash!
