Had an absolutely wonderful time even with the rainy cold winter day. The Kala salt pool for floating was worth it. Absolutely lovely. Recommend going earlier in the day as it gets busy. Only thing pulling down from a 5 star is a desire for more food variety at variable price points. They are pretty good at this already but for a vegetarian it wasn’t quite enough to fully provide meal options if you stay for lunch and dinner.

Overall, I had a positive experience at Thermea Whitby and will definitely be back, though there are a few areas for improvement. My day started with a bit of stress—I was told over the phone that no reservation was required, but upon arrival, I found that wasn’t the case. I was initially disappointed to hear only a 7 PM slot was open, but Mia and Cathy were incredibly accommodating and managed to fit me in. (I did re-read my confirmation email later and realized the reservation requirement was mentioned, so that was my oversight!) The Good: The Kalla pool and the food were both amazing. I absolutely loved the rituals in the Loggä and the peaceful atmosphere of the A-Frame cottage. The amenities are very thoughtful—locker sizes are great, and they provide everything from q-tips and hair dryers to wet bathing suit bags and fresh robes/towels on demand. Room for Improvement: Some of the "warm" pools didn't feel hot enough; I actually had to get out because I was freezing. I was also expecting slightly softer towels and robes; mine felt a bit stiff/rough. I also found the village layout difficult to navigate and wish there were more signs for the buildings. On a hygiene note, my shower stall had a clump of hair pushed to the side, which was quite disappointing. Lastly, the entrance to one of the steam rooms is extremely narrow (fitting only 2 people at a time) and could really benefit from being widened. Despite these hiccups, it was a great day of relaxation. Thanks again to Mia and Cathy for saving my visit!

My husband and I visited Thermea for our anniversary on Feb 9 and booked Village Access along with the Kalla experience. Overall, it was a beautiful and relaxing day where we spent 13 hours at the spa, with a few initial frustrations. What we loved: -The Kalla experience was hands down the best spa experience we’ve ever had. Deeply relaxing! I can’t quite explain it, but if floating in time and space were a thing, this is what it must feel like. At one point, we both fell asleep holding hands like otters ( if that is even a thing lol). Highly recommend! -The village baths, saunas, and Nordic traditions were amazing. -The guided meditations were great. -Loved that most of the spa is phone-free. It really helps you disconnect, even though some people still sneak phones in. What could be better: -Navigation was frustrating, especially for first-time visitors. We were not given any tour or guidance when we arrived and had no idea where to start. We asked the front desk multiple times about the programs and the schedules and weren’t offered clear instructions/guidance until hours later, when one staff member finally explained how to structure our day to get most of our experience . -A short intro video, basic orientation, or quick staff guidance at the start would make a huge difference, especially for guests new to Nordic spas.

Nice spa! Thermea is definitely a unique experience if you have never been to an outdoor style spa before. The day we were here was -30°, but somehow we still managed to have a good time. There are a vast amount of saunas, hot tubs, cold plunges and pools which are all unique in their own way. I’d recommend planning at least 3-5 hours to do them all at least once or twice. The only downside was the experience in each sauna was highly subject to how loud the groups inside were talking. Another downside was the crowds, there was many times that we could not enter a sauna due to there being a wait, and as a result forcing us to stand out in -30° weather in a robe and sandals. Other than the crowds and some more noise than i’d prefer, I would definitely recommend this spa for anyone who wants a relaxing and calming day outside of the city.

We came here on a weekend, got here early enough that it was as busy, the facilities are large & phone free. Plenty of parking available. You are provided a wrist band that gets you access to your locker (has a robe & towel). This can be done on your own with staff assistance. There are several hot tubs, relaxing room, hammocks (my favourite part) swings &, fire place, sauna, cold plunges. There are communal activities taking place throughout the day. Food: A couple restaurants on site, found them to be overpriced but that’s the only food available on premises so if you are hungry, it’s your best option. We were there several hours so naturally we did get hungry. Massage: Once it’s your massage time, you head to the 2nd floor where you have access to water and tea until it’s your massage time. The massage itself wasn’t anything to rave about. It felt all over the place, one second one leg next arm and back to leg and all of a sudden shoulder. It was just a little confusing. Facilities: I found the bathrooms & showers needed tending to, there was hair in the showers. Overall, You can easily relax and spend several hours here. It was relaxing despite the rain, we enjoyed being outdoors and relaxing. Eventually it did get really busy so suggestion to arrive early
