The Regent Luxury Suites on Joel Ogunnaike Street in Ikeja offers a blend of classic charm and significant potential, though it currently feels like a bit of a mixed experience. Starting with the positives, the room was impressively spacious, offering plenty of room to breathe—a feature that isn't always a given in Ikeja. The visual aesthetics are solid, featuring dark wood finishes and well-placed artwork. The receptionist was exceptionally courteous and professional, making for a very pleasant arrival. Additionally, the presence of a functional elevator is a huge relief, ensuring you aren't hauling luggage up multiple flights of stairs. However, there are several areas where the hotel could stand to improve. The car park is quite restrictive; it can realistically only fit about 10 cars, making parking a bit of a gamble. Once inside the room, the technology feels dated. The TV is small and old, and the selection of stations is very limited—not quite the modern experience many travelers might expect. The most pressing concern is safety. The room flooring is surprisingly slippery; the bed actually moves when you try to get on it, and the bedside rug lacks grip, making it a genuine slip hazard. This issue carries over into the bathroom, where the floor tiles become dangerously slick when wet. This is something management should address immediately with non-slip treatments or mats. Finally, while the bar is a nice space, the drinks menu is a bit sparse and could use more variety to match the luxury branding. With a few safety upgrades and a tech refresh, this hotel could easily be a top-tier choice. For now, it’s a spacious and friendly spot, but one where you need to watch your step—literally.

I rarely ever leave reviews, but I feel compelled to share this experience to warn other potential guests. I stayed at The Regent for a week, and on the last day, I discovered a bedbug on the bed comforter. I also developed bites on my legs and arms that appeared during the final days of my stay (bedbug bites typically show up a few days after the bite occurs). Unfortunately, instead of handling the situation professionally, the hotel’s chief accountant, Moses Kalu (not even the hotel manager), dismissed my concerns and accused me of fabricating the incident. This was particularly shocking, considering that one of their staff members had previously confirmed that dead bedbugs were found during a fumigation just weeks before my stay. When I requested a partial refund to cover the inconvenience and the costs I incurred for treating my luggage and belongings, as well as discarding infested items, I was accused of trying to "hoodwink" the hotel out of their "hard-earned income". Such accusations are completely unprofessional and unacceptable. In all my years of international traveling, this is the first time I’ve encountered such behavior from hotel management. Outside of the bedbug issue, the hotel itself was decent for the price, and the front desk staff and security were very friendly and helpful. The location is quite central, with several restaurants nearby. However, the management’s refusal to take accountability and their dismissive attitude towards guest concerns make it impossible for me to recommend this hotel. I won't be surprised if Moses tries to respond to this review with more accusations of me making this up...

I find it sad to see this hotel in the state it is in. Poor craftsmanship on the room, bath and such really weighs this review down and i feel sorry for the hotel brand The Regent when I have to review this particular hotel. The superior room felt kind of dirt. I started checking inside the AC unit and found that the filter was full and there was biological matter growing inside of the coils almost filling it completely with hazardous biological materials that gets launched into the very air which you breathe. The unit was also in poor mechanical shape, but at least it cooled the room down. The bath looks nice at first, but when you look closer at it you find its in a poor shape as well. Mold growing in places there shouldn't be mold in a bathroom, the bevel finishes are falling apart, the company installing the tiles, basin and shower did not use the right materials or equipment to do the job properly which makes everything look weird on a closer look. Even the cement is carrying mold on it which it shouldn't had the correct tile cement for wet areas been used. Last but not least I found it funny that I almost couldn't order anything from the menu they had in the restaurant. They had no meat of sorts such as chicken, beef and ground beef. The only thing they had was fish. The poor waiter had to go back and forth from the kitchen 4 times just to bring me the bad news that they couldn't deliver what I would like to order. Because of the biological hazard and the terrible selection of food in their restaurant I have to give this hotel a 2 star.

Spacious rooms, neat and well furnished. They could improve on their services though, especially the poor complimentary breakfast they offer. Front desk also takes a lot of time to attend to complaints. Overall, not a bad place to stay!

Review summary

The Regent Luxury Suites offers spacious rooms and good value for money, with a central location and friendly front‑desk staff. Guests note the car park is small and parking limited, dated TVs, slippery flooring, bedbug infestation, poor maintenance (mold in bathroom, full AC filter), and a sparse restaurant menu. Management has been criticized for dismissing guest concerns. Overall sentiment is mixed but generally acceptable.
