Amazing staff that always go above and beyond. My nervous dog has been so many different clinics and this one is by far the best.

Kindness and compassion are in abundance at this vet clinic. This is where our own pets and the foster pets are taken care of. Soon there will be a new shelter on site for the lost and alone animals seeking a forever home.

I apologize in advance for the length of this review. I have taken a bit of time before sharing our history with the St. George Veterinary Clinic on here, but after reading a few negative reviews I needed to share our story. Back in August, one of our female Boxers began to display some concerning behaviour and began having difficulty physically, and over the course of the next month that progressed. So we did what any loving pet owner does. We did what we could, mostly with the assistance of the staff at the St. George clinic, and one quick trip to Port City (who were also really good). Unfortunately, our story ends sadly for us with our girl. There was nothing that could be done for her except to prolong her suffering, or to lovingly usher her over the rainbow bridge. We had an instinct that that was coming. If you've been a pet owner, you've been there, and it sucks. And for me there is nothing worse then a vet doesn't tell you like it is and keep the animal first. I have dealt with those vets in the past, that push to the point of cruelty for the animal and it begins to feel like your bank account is the only thing that matters to them. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE WITH THE STAFF AT ST. GEORGE VETERINARY CLINIC. I would like to personally mention and thank Dr. Tolu Ogundare for his patience, kindness, honesty, and overall compassionate care for our girl's final day. He was honest about her prognosis. He didn't waste anyone's time. He was kind and sweet towards her. He gave us the option to enjoy one last day with her and bring her back in to the clinic that afternoon. He was totally fine with us bringing our other female Boxer, her sister, in to say good bye as well. And he was very patient and compassionate with us while we dealt with our loss. All of the staff were sweet, and compassionate with us. Not only did we deal with the loss of one of our dogs, but we also dealt with the unexpected need for surgery on our other Boxer, only 2 days later. Once again, the staff and doctors were professional, thorough, kind, compassionate and most importantly... the got our girl fixed up. All at a very reasonable price. I cannot thank them enough. I highly recommend the care at St. George Veterinary Clinic. We will continue to bring our animals there to receive care. And I would like to thank Dr. Tolu again, you have taken care of all three of our pets at one point or another and we appreciate you!

We had two sick cats that passed away last week because of Cancer. Thor was 18 and our baby Jax was nine. We brought Jax to the hospital to see why he was gaining weight. Dr ran tests, and when the results came back, we were shocked to find out Jax had Cancer, and was suffering. We thought we were going to just take Jax to the hospital, and then go home with him. That wasn't the case. We were devastated. The doctors and staff, my wife and I dealt with were so compassionate and caring.

I adopted an approximately 11 year old Chihuahua from the St. George Vet Clinic on Feb 10, 2025. She was spayed on that date and also had 15 teeth extracted and came home with me the same day. The clinic did not know much of her history and I was told she was a very finicky eater and it seems she only ate table food and was pee pad trained. I brought her home and the first two days were challenging. She was syringe fed puppy formula by me the first 24 hours. She did not want to eat and was still very sedated. I was sent home with three separate meds to administer but was told on Feb 11, 2025 to stop two meds and continue with one as two meds were pill form and the dog would not allow me to administer them without biting. (Understandable as I am a stranger and she just had extensive dental surgery) She started to come around. She was enjoying her scrambled eggs and cheese for breakfast and lean ground turkey at supper. I was even able to start introducing canned dog food with the ground turkey. My last checkin with St. George Vet Clinic was Feb 14, 2025 and the dog was settling in very well with the family. Fast forward to Feb 27, 2025 (18 days in my home), I woke up at 430am to get ready for work and she did not want breakfast at that time. I put her in bed with my 19 year old daughter and advised her to try feeding the dog later in the morning. I returned from work at 330pm and the dog was showing no signs of a problem other than she didn't want to eat. (Not too concerning as we were told she was finicky). I decided to whip her up another egg and cheese which she did not touch. I then had my son run to McDonald's as she has a liking for fries. Still no desire to eat. She was drinking water and then began to vomit clear fluid. I looked up contact info for St. George vet clinic and their website listed Port City Vet Clinic in Saint John NB as the emergency after hours clinic. I contacted them and proceeded to their location with the dog. The dog was seen and then blood work was done. I was told by vet at that location that the dog showed signs of dehydration and was fighting infection.( Note one of the meds I was told to stop administering on Feb 11, 2025 was the antibiotic Clavamox). Sadly, the decision was made to put down the dog after being given three options. I contacted the St. George vet clinic about the situation and the response I received from Dr. Eagan was totally unprofessional and had a narcissistic tone. She pointed blame at me for not caring for the dog and also said she felt, by looking at the blood work, that it was not an infection and more should have been done to help the dog. My opinion is she was careless at sending a senior dog weighing only 5lbs home with a new family after having TWO surgeries the same day. She should have been kept in their care until they could confirm she was well after the procedures! I was told by Dr. Eagan that I would receive my $300 adoption fee back but I was responsible for the $1042 bill which is fine. Money well spent for 18 days with her. My experience with Dr. Eagan was very disappointing. I admire her for her work but her communication style and judgemental attitude towards clients leaves little to be desired. My first and last experience with this clinic and would NOT recommend to others. I do highly recommend the care team at Port City Emergency Vet Clinic. They are exceptional!!!
