I am very disappointed with my recent experience at this clinic.
Initially, I thought this clinic was wonderful. I really liked the veterinarian we saw and felt confident in the care my cat received during her first vaccine appointment. At that visit, I also asked about the feral TNR (trap-neuter-return) program, as I care for several stray cats. I was told someone would contact me with more information, but I never received a follow-up call.
During the vaccine appointment, I was told my cat would need a booster in three weeks. I was given the option to take the booster home and administer it myself. I agreed because I’ve given injections before and live about 35 minutes away, which made it seem like a practical solution. At no point was I advised of any specific risks associated with doing this, nor was I informed that I would be held financially responsible if there were an issue with the vaccine or equipment provided.
When I attempted to give the injection, the needle would not penetrate my cat’s skin. After several attempts, I inspected it more closely and could clearly feel an irregularity at the tip. The needle was defective. My cat was understandably upset and uncomfortable, and I felt terrible. Since it was after hours, there was nothing I could do at the time.
I called the next morning and was told I could pick up another dose. Since I had to make the 35-minute drive anyway — and my cat was now extra spicey with me — I asked if I could bring her in for them to administer it instead. They agreed.
After the booster was given, I was charged again. The needle was inspected and I was told that because liquid could pass through it, it was considered “fine,” and the issue was essentially my fault. The problem was not that it was clogged — it was that the tip would not properly penetrate the skin.
Despite this, I was only given a 10% discount on the replacement booster and was then told that taking the vaccine home “comes with risks,” something that had never been mentioned when the option was offered.
Being charged again for what was clearly defective equipment — and then made to feel responsible — was extremely disappointing. Combined with the lack of follow-up regarding the TNR program, I no longer feel confident continuing care at this clinic.

WPAHC is a trusted vet for me. The experience for my cats visiting for shots and surgery was with as little anxiety as possible. I used Scratch Pay which was also a very streamlined process. I truly appreciate this vet being set up for this way to pay.

First good vet experience for my 7 year old dog! Right from when you come in the door, the staff are clearly trained to help reduce stresses to the pet patients. Clinic rooms are large sized to help reduce anxiety and have windows as well. My heeler has hated the previous clinic, but came and went from here with no problems. Top notch!

Our animals always receive excellent care. The staff is knowledgeable, courteous, friendly, willing to help and care about the health of the animals they deal with. I have been a client of PAHC right from the beginning and will continue as one.

I have nothing but admirable things to say about Brooke Herlick, a Registered Veterinary Technician at PAHC. Brooke was on-call when it was time to put our family's precious, 14.5-year-old baby boy down. She was flexible in finding a time to meet at the clinic and provided such a calm environment, which our cat needed in his last moments. Brooke was extremely knowledgeable and talked us through the entire process that we were about to witness. She was very sympathetic and willingly took some paw and nose prints for us to treasure. We had dreaded the day that we had to say goodbye for months, but Brooke truly made it easier to handle. If we have to go through a similar situation in the future with another animal, I will not hesitate to request that Brooke be the caregiver. Brooke, if you ever see this post, thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and God bless you!
