I cannot recommend Dr. Jim Belknap highly enough! He recently performed surgery on our black lab Ava, to remove a large stuffed toy she had swallowed. From start to finish, the entire experience was top notch. The surgery and recovery were excellent, but what truly stood out was Dr. Belknap's incredible communication. He personally contacted us twice a day to check in Ava's progress and answer any questions we had. He was an absolute pleasure to deal with - compassionate, professional, and clearly dedicated to his patients. A great sense of humor also. Our dog Taters had to have her knee replaced Dr Belknap did a great job. He kept us informed as soon as he was done. Kept in touch for her 8 week recovery. We also took our German Shepard Azula to him with hip problems and after looking at x-rays he sent us to a specialist. He could have just have done it himself but wanted to give Azula a doctor that specializes in hips. Dr Belknap cares about our animals and we are happy with our outcome.

When my dog tore his hind ACL, I knew it was going to cost an absolute fortune in my home city of Seattle to have that repaired. I looked far and wide across the whole state of Washington for a veterinarian willing to perform a TPLO for an affordable price. And then I found Willapa Veterinary Service in Raymond, who were offering a TPLO operation for less than half the price of any offer in Seattle! It was a 2 hour drive both ways but worth it for the savings. When I got there, I expected a service worth the low price, but boy was I wrong! Dr. Belknap (the “k” is silent!) and the staff at Willapa were nothing but the most friendly, experienced, professional individuals during my entire time working with them to have my dog’s injury remedied. Dr. Belknap’s own individual skill at his craft was showcased by the way in which performed the TPLO operation. My dog is a mutt with an oddly shaped body, with stubby, malformed legs that curve unusually. The standard TPLO plate necessary to be connected to the leg bone did not conform to the unnatural shape of the leg bone. But no matter! Dr. Belknap is a pro who thinks outside the box! He used tools and brawn to reshape the standard plate to fit the oblong shape of the bone. Had it been any other doctor, I am not sure I would have had as much confidence in the quality of the surgery. We met every 2 or 4 weeks (included in the low price) for a followup to check on my dog’s condition until the final meeting at 8 weeks. And after about 4 months now, my dog is sprinting at full tilt once again! Dr. Belknap and Willapa Veterinary Services are truly the destination worth the drive, no matter how far you are traveling from. This is my go-to spot for any serious care for animals from now on.

Excellent experience. The Dr genuinely cares about the well being of my dog and actually enjoys hearing updates and answering questions, even if sometimes the answers are a lot more information than expected 😄. No worries tho, it's excellent information that answered questions I didn't think up until later. That came in handy a couple times after the surgery while walking my dog. Super highly recommend this doctor. Much much better than the surgeon who performed the 1st TPLO in California, and at half the price! Very satisfied. After the surgery my dog was convinced he was completely healed, probably because the joint was so much more stable. I had no issues and felt like my dog was much better taken care of than the last place. Like he was treated with the dignity and respect all living things deserve, not just another job to be finished. Loved my experience. I still message the doc about my dogs progress.

To whom it may concern. Dr Belknap is a rare find. He is a veterinary doctor that truly cares. I feel like he goes above and beyond every time. Dr. Belknap has been my dogs veterinary/surgeon for two years now. I have an English bulldog named Bodey he’s has had really tough go for his first two years of life. He’s had several surgeries. Four to be exact. Two of those surgeries performed by Dr. Belknap. All of them have been done at Willapa Veterinary . The 1st surgery performed by Dr. Belknap was a TPLO. Which is a very serious surgery! Dr. Belknap had to repair Bodey’s ACL, trim & mend the meniscus. And reconstruct the cup that the kneecaps set down into. He also had to straighten out his femur. By breaking it and adding a plate and several screws on his left side. Bodey has made a full recovery. The 2nd surgery was done later to remove his Screw tail that had sunk very deep inside his tail pocket. Once again, Dr. Belknap did a phenomenal job. Bodey has made it full recovery from this one as well. In addition, it seems like Dr. Belknap is available 24/7 When it comes to the recovery and after care from the surgeries. Our pets become Parts of our family they are like our children and thanks to Dr. Belknap Bodey lives a better life! Thank you Dr. Belknap. You are truly AMAZING!
