A very good place to spend time with family. There is a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, gym, jacuzzi, and water slides. A very interesting place.

As someone born and raised in Nanaimo (I'm in my 20s now), I feel as though the NAC is a shell of its former self. In my most recent visit to the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre (the pool), it's as though everything is operating at a minimum.
The main pool is now practically empty, with a great example - the main boat structure that used to be there, is now an empty space with a rather large rock in the middle. (How is that a great use of space and/or safe?). The back wall of the wave pool is now off limits, and there are limited accessories/floats present there, and the wave pool did not turn on once during my 1.5 hour visit. Only thing to do here was sit in the lazy river.
The changerooms are still as nasty as they were when I was a kid (cleanliness being the primary issue for many years now, and today being no exception), however curiously enough, there is also no longer a hair dryer, nor the machine to dry your swimsuit anymore (at-least in the men's changeroom).
As for the lobby, as far as I'm aware, you may no longer enter from anywhere else other than the front door overlooking third street, as well as the entire lobby section west from the entrance has now been blocked by security glass and a gate. (What are we protecting? The vending machines?) The Cafe appears to be derelict as though it hasn't been in service for some time, as well as a similar situation for the gear store, which seems to be closed 9 times out of 10.
The only saving-grace for the NAC currently, is the weight room, which I've visited a few times more recently - (This is the only reason my rating is at a 2/5 currently).
Overall, as someone who remembers the NAC from days past, it seems as though they're taking more and more away, and leaving an "empty husk" of a community centre behind.

The Nanaimo Aquatic Centre has a surprisingly good gym with plenty of machines and space to get a solid workout in. It can feel a bit crowded at times, but usually you’ll still find what you need. The locker rooms are a bit chaotic—lots of wet floors from the pool traffic—so be prepared for that. On the plus side, they offer drop-ins, which makes it convenient if you’re just visiting or don’t want a membership.

The best of best aquatic centre in Vancouver and Vancouver Island area. The size is international scale. The layout and art painting on the wall create very pleasant atmosphere. The giant fans on the ceiling make you feel breeze while swimming. Kids area has beach theme. Steam sauna is commeicial spa level. Lots of lockers and enough changing booths. I love everything about this pool. ❤️

Great place for kids swimming lesson. Lots of parking space. You need to show them your vaccine passport and ID to watch at the bench.
I fill up my daughter's Active Pass form to get a card. Thankfully, I got it here while my son is having his lessons.
Too bad my daughter was waitlist and unfortunately did not get in for her Swim 7 lesson.
Prince George's Aquatic Center is much bigger than here though.
