Jae is the best mechanic I have ever met. We were scammed into buying a car with a faulty transmission, and it broke down in less than two weeks. By chance, we had it towed to Jae’s shop. He was very straightforward and gave us the most practical advice and help when we were on the verge of bankruptcy. We are truly grateful to him. He is the most highly recommended mechanic in Vancouver!

A friend of mine has had really great service from International Auto Service in the past, I have gone with him to appointments before and the service was professional and very well priced. However when I sought out their services myself I had a pretty negative experience. I called ahead of time to schedule a year/20k km maintenance service and I was told to come in at 1:30 pm the next day. When I showed up, an employee told me that there must have been a mistake and to come back the next day at the same time. I live fairly far away so the drive was about 45 minutes AND I had to take an extra long lunch break at work in order to come to this appointment, which also means I had to work late to compensate for the time. This made a huge impact on my day and I didn't even get my car looked at. Not to mention how expensive gas is right now... Once I got home I called so that I could confirm the moved appointment. I was then told that for this kind of service is first come first served and that I should come back in the morning instead. There was no apology for wasting my time. I am not sure why I was treated so differently from my friend. I found this to be very disrespectful and unprofessional so I ended up getting my service done elsewhere. I will say that that if you do end up *actually* getting your car seen, they will do a very good job and they won't gouge you for money. That is why I was willing to make the drive and see them. However they definitely need to work on communication and scheduling. I will not be going back to them since I feel I was not treated with respect.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with International Auto Service and I have to say, it was an absolute nightmare. My Kia 2009 Spectra, broke down at SFU and had to be towed to their shop for repairs. I was told that the problem was with the transmission and that it needed to be replaced. After being given the option to either replace the transmission for $3,000 or demolish the vehicle, I decided to demolish the vehicle. Before doing so, I visited the scrapit website to see how much I could get for my vehicle. When I asked the owner of International Auto Service how much I would get for demolishing the vehicle, he refused to give me a straight answer and instead insisted that I would get more than what scrapit would give me. This should have been a huge red flag, but I stupidly decided to proceed. The owner then filled out the vehicle transfer document to himself without any explanation, which was another red flag. When I asked him again how much I would get for demolishing the vehicle, he told me that I would get roughly $70. This was unacceptable to me, as I knew that scrapit would pay me $300. When I confronted the owner about this, he tried to justify the low price by saying that my car was old and that if I went with scrapit, I would have to tow it myself. At this point, I realized that the owner was trying to take advantage of me and was most likely planning to fix the vehicle and sell it for a profit. I decided to call a tow truck and take the car to scrapit myself. The owner became incredibly unfriendly as soon as I told him this. In the end, it cost me $150(incl tip +tax) for a tow, 30 min drive and got roughly a $800 transit pass from the scrapit. (or $300) At this point, I am unsure if my transmission needed a replacement because of how untrustworthy the owner was. Overall, my experience with International Auto Service was an absolute disaster. The owner was untrustworthy, unfriendly, and clearly more interested in making a quick buck than in providing decent service to his customers. I would strongly advise anyone considering using this shop to look elsewhere for their automotive needs.

The owner is a very nice and professional guy, I went to them twice to have my check engine light checked on a 2012 Prius, and he gave a reasonable advice given our context. He does seem to genuinely care about his customers.

My 2015 Mazda CX-5's transmission had started to fail, so I took it to a Mazda dealership. Bad move by me and that's another story!!! Main point is that Jae at International Auto Service took care of everything....and when I say everything I mean everything. He not only repaired my transmission in a timely manner, but he also gave me 100% peace of mind from beginning to end. The quote, replacement part, and repair were all done in a very timely manner. The cost was affordable, the customer service was always informative and friendly, and the quality of work was excellent! I cannot say it enough but I highly recommend you give International Auto Service a call and see what Jae can do for you!
