New Year’s Eve my furnace stopped running very early in the morning. I checked all the basics before I went to work and had my wife call Hancock plumbing when they opened at 8am. A technician was available first thing and arrived quick. Once he found out the furnace was a brand they don’t sell he got a little upset. After 2 hours of testing components and half the time on the phone to other technicians he told my wife that my smart thermostat was probably the issue because it wasn’t one he liked. So I left work and went home to talk to him and he was very frustrated. I gave him permission to remove my smart thermostat and he refused. At that point he had no solution. I asked him to leave as there is no point wasting my time and racking up my bill. I ended up contacting my electrician and within 20 min he found a bad soldier on the circuit board. After temporarily repairing that the furnace was operational. The issue I have is that the technician ensured me he tested all components and removed the board and inspected it for issues but failed to see the bad soldier. Just because you don’t like the brand names of the equipment you are having to work on shouldn’t cloud your judgment.
Hello People, I want to share an experience about Hancock Plumbing. 18 years ago, my furnace failed. The heat extractor was cracked. Hancock told me with a crack that large it’s been broken for a long time. We just moved into the house a month earlier it was 25 below. I think it was the first day of hunting season and I had no furnace. I called everyone in Yorkton everyone except Hancock was hunting, so my only choice was Hancock if I wanted a furnace fast. I bought the most expensive top of the line furnace because we just bought the house and we were going to be living here for a long time. It took only 2 days to get one out of Regina. Thank God we had a fireplace. The Lennox furnace has been perfect. Except for one thing. The combustion fan. The first one failed 5 years after the installation. I had to buy one from Hancock, they had it in stock. 13 years ago I thought it was expensive but I had no choice because it stopped working. About a month ago, I’m in the basement and I hear a small squeaking noise. I Walk over to the furnace, remove the face plate and sure enough the combustion fan has a little squeak. So I decide to call Hancock plumbing and ask him for a Fasco A163. First off, he told me not all Lennox furnaces have a Fasco Combustion motor in them. I told him I read the number off the sticker that’s on the Fasco motor. I bought this motor from you 13 years ago. He said I needed the model number and the serial number of the furnace. He verified that it was a Fasco A163 and he had one. I’m giving you a deal, $543.00 plus tax, 599.00 retail. I’m like, I’ll think about it. I google it, find a couple on amazon. I find one for $288.00. How can someone make $543-$288.00 = $255.00 profit on a $288 motor which is the exact same combustion number/motor? I’m not paying for any plumber experience here. This is just theft. We as consumers need to look out for businesses like this. Remember that the business I bought it from, which was a plumbing business made money off my sale (I paid a little more because it was a plumbing store). I will never call them or replace anything in my house from them. He seemed to be nice on the phone actually. I guess that’s how they get you. I have included pictures of my original motor in the furnace, the Fasco box, the sticker saying it’s from LaVergne Tennessee. I’m sick and tired of business like this thinking it’s their right to extract the maximum dollar from a citizen of Yorkton.
