I’ve been with GoodLife for about a year now. Most recently signed up for personal Training with Lisa and I’m very happy with my results so far. My main goals were to get stronger, focus on my flexibility and built some muscle, Lisa customized a program for me and she makes me work hard. But in a short time I’ve noticed a 2 inch increase on my vertical, 3 inches closer to touching my toes and a noticeable difference in my strength when it comes to my sports. Not only is Lisa so personable but it truly feels like working out with a friend!

I have been a consistent gym goer and member at the good life for a little over a year now but these past months have made me strongly re consider my membership and involvement in the good life. It seems is no longer providing me with a good life anymore. This gym has countless issues that need to be fixed and what does the good life do to resolve this issue? Hire more useless employees who do nothing to help contribute to the well being of good life’s members and the quality of the gym. Tell me why I saw 7 people stand at the front desk and all talk well there is dis organized weights everywhere and every direction you look in a new thing is broken. For the money I’m paying for this membership the GoodLife needs to be putting it into actually having working equipment that’s not broken for months on end and also some helpful employees. When the GoodLife hires new workers which seems to be every single day for some odd reason they look for 3 different criteria. Who can talk to most and waste the most time? Who can get the absolute least amount of work done? And who looks like they have absolutely no idea what they are doing? Now don’t get me wrong there are some amazing employees there who make the place better but majority of them just slink around and do nothing. I think the gym would greatly benefit if they kept the workers who help out and if they need to hire new ones make sure they actually DO WORK. Instead of chit chat all day. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of those bench presses have the weights on them organized. And then they use the large sum of money I give them each month to hire people to fix the machines and that perhaps that wall that’s been ripped apart for a month now. The one thing I think they have actually done in the last 2 months is flip the hack squat machine around for some reason. It’s not like nobody knows about these issues either I’ve seen multiple people complain to the front desk and some of them I know personally and they feel the same way as I do. And still not a single thing changes. One time I also saw one of those advertisements they write on the white boards with the word afraid spelt wrong with two f’s. Some of these people make me worried about the future of Canada. Finally I think they need to buckle down in the people who are at the gym. It seems every single day I see a new person get harassed by someone and no one does anything. And some people just act like they own the place and don’t have much respect. I understand if you’re new and just trying to improve yourself. You’re not going to know gym etiquette right off the hop but some of these people have to big of egos and their etiquette has gone bye bye. The main problem seems to be the harassment I see though and I know the employees know about it because I’ve seen people complain before and I know people who have spoken up about it. As the employee you should make sure it’s a safe place for everyone to improve and help put a stop to harassment rather then just brush it off.

GoodLife is a massive gym, lots of options., but my experience with personal training was extremely disappointing. I was told I could cancel PT within the first 30 days with no obligation, and we agreed that I could do top-ups after my sessions were completed. I was also assured that if I chose not to do another top-up, no charges would be made. Unfortunately, that agreement was not honored—they went behind my back and withdrew money from my account even though I was not renewing a top-up. I had been paying via debit each time and was assured my bank info would not be charged without consent. On top of that, the way sessions are structured is ridiculous. You pay for a 45-minute session, yet they consider cardio part of that time. I often arrive 20 minutes early to warm up on the treadmill, only to be told to do more cardio because “it’s part of the session.” I’m paying for personal training focused on mobility and strength, not extra cardio. Combined with poor communication from my trainer about payment dates, this dishonesty and lack of professionalism from staff made my experience extremely frustrating. I cannot recommend this gym for personal training, terrible staff all around.

Great gym, I’ve been a member for over 7 years now. However the equipment is being more and more poorly maintained. I had mentioned to a staff member that one of the hack squat machines was out of alignment. To this day it is still the same after more than 2 years. Bolts loose on machines that have been like this for months that it’s to the point that it’s going to end up being a more costly repair and someone is going to injure themselves. The managers should be doing weekly if not daily spot checks personally to ensure equipment is in proper working order.

Its a great place for fitness enthusiasts and they have some classes included in some of the payment packages. They also have sauna and steam bath. The only downside is they closed the child minding/baby sitting area so its difficult for most young mothers like me to use their facility, so I ended up canceling my membership since I dont have a nanny. I wish they would open the child minding area again.
