The layout could be different. The gym needs a little upgrading; like thete could be better treadmills in my opinion, and the mat workout area could be better. I have been two other Goodlife's and they were both great! So I expect this one to step it up. Otherwise it had what needed.

It’s a decent gym overall, but my main concern is the uneven flooring on both the ground and third floors. This can create balance issues, making it less ideal for lifting weights. For $70/month, I would expect a more stable, even surface for training.

Want to give a HUGE shout-out to the group fitness instructors at the Abbotsford location. Both Debbie and Elizabeth show true passion for leading all their group fitness classes. They not only challenge the participants but they also make the classes fun and exciting. To these instructors you aren't just a member but a person they care about. I wish more people realized how awesome group fitness classes are and that they would feel inspired after meeting these talented instructors.

I’m writing this negative review with a heavy heart and an extended frustration for the lack of care experienced at GoodLife. 3-4 months into my membership, I approached a girl at the front desk to ask — humbly — whether there was any way GoodLife could help me with my membership, given that I was homeless and unemployed at the time. She checked in with management at the time, and I was given an email address and directed to send an email to another department. I did exactly that, but the response I received was generic and unhelpful. It left me feeling unseen and brushed aside. A manager later mentioned that she had initially offered me 4 weeks off, but that I had never accepted the offer. Which seemed odd…since you don’t need someone’s permission to give someone something free or to do something kind. Second, I personally have no solid recollection of such an offering. Definitely feels like something I would have remembered and would have accepted. But to be honest, when she offered it to me again later on, it just felt like a slap in the face at that point, considering all the other issues present with GoodLife. Not to mention…I needed assistance FAR greater than just a month, which felt like another slap in the face (essentially offering someone a bandaid for a gushing canon-ball wound…Oh 4 weeks…Thanks, i guess?). Not long after (3-4 weeks later), I noticed that GoodLife hired four new staff members — a reminder that while resources were available for expansion, there was apparently nothing substantial to offer a loyal member going through a difficult time. It stung. They also knew that I was unemployed, but failed to extend a helpful offering of employment (or even give me a heads up that they were hiring, so I could apply the normal route, like everyone else). That stung even more. Nonetheless, I still chose to stay positive. A couple months go by and I decided to share with management a number of thoughtful ideas to help improve the facility, including specific areas that could have used a quick clean (nothing major by any means, but still noticeable). I was told thank you, and that they’d look into those dirty areas. Anddd…another month goes by…anddd, those same dirty spots remain untouched to this day. Pffff, wild. Don’t lie to me, and tell me, “ we will address the cleanliness concerns you have brought to our attention.” …then not do anything. Lastly…having recently restarted my new social media presence on instagram, I decided I would tag GoodLife.Abbotsford, hoping it would be reshared on their Instagram Story…but nope. No acknowledgment, no thank you, no reshare… just the same three people they reshare on the social media every day. (One photo I tagged them in might have been deemed spicy, so I can understand that one not being shared for safety, but otherwise…all the countless others were not…they were just being cruel and dishing out more neglect and reject). At this point, I’ve been stretched thin again — financially, mentally, and emotionally. Club 16 is right across the street, offering a VIP membership that’s half the cost of GoodLife’s, and it includes amenities GoodLife doesn’t have (including infrared sauna, red light therapy, hydro massage, etc.). So I have to ask myself — what exactly is holding me back from switching? Loyalty can only go so far when it isn’t met with any compassion, gratitude, or basic follow-through. At this point…I’m made to feel like GoodLife doesn’t truly care about its members…they’re just numbers. Ps, despite us just being numbers to them, they at the same time oddly don't care about financial numbers or profitability…cause they also tend to be over-staffed during the day, yet despite being overstaffed…oddly hard to find sometimes when a member needs something. Labour costs must be through the roof. Pps, …and…their IN-HOUSE cleaner is spiritually toxic, comes at you during a new moon and latches onto your spirit, or tries to give you bad advice or in-still fear in you (likely why he went from working 5 days a week to 2…he’s very inefficient)

To the General Manager Goodlife Abbotsford: Very well run gym Great staff Clean I gave a 5 star review, although there is an issue. Guys dropping their weights. There is absolutely no excuse for dropping dumbells from height, causing such a thud, it can be heard in the changerooms. Guys are using the machine and letting go on their last rep and the weight crashing down. This is the main reason why machines get broken. If you're looking to slam your weights and cause a disturbance for others who want a peaceful workout, I suggest signing up at a hard-core gym, like Gold's. I use heavy weights but I have enough strength to place them down without causing a disturbance for others. 100lb dumbells for chest, no noise. 3 plate deadlifts, no noise. Stacks on machines, no noise. There are signs all over the gym: DON'T DROP YOUR WEIGHTS Thank you for your attention to this matter!
