I’ve had a great experience at Evolve Brentwood. The gym is always clean, well-organized, and equipped with high-quality machines and free weights. It never feels overcrowded, which makes workouts comfortable and efficient.
The staff are friendly, professional, and always willing to help. The atmosphere is very motivating and welcoming for all fitness levels, whether you’re a beginner or experienced.
I especially appreciate the variety of classes, flexible hours, and overall positive environment. It’s a great place to stay consistent and motivated with fitness goals.
Highly recommended!

I’ve been a member for nearly a year and a half and I love coming to the gym! The facilities are awesome - well taken care of, always equipment available and very clean. They’ve got everything you might need in a gym, for a pretty reasonable price! The staff are also so friendly (shout out to Cynthia who is always making me feel so welcome!!) highly recommend to anyone, whether you are first starting out in your gym journey or many years in!

I’ve had such a great experience at Evolve! The gym itself is clean, well organized, and has a really welcoming atmosphere that makes you actually want to show up and work out.
What truly sets it apart is the staff. Cynthia consistently goes above and beyond. She always makes time to ask about my day and is genuinely friendly and approachable. You can tell she really knows what she’s doing and is always on top of what’s happening around the gym. That level of care and attention makes a huge difference and creates such a positive environment 😊

As someone who has been to various gyms across the lower mainland. I can most definitely say that this has been my favourite gym thus far. The location is amazing with many spots to grab a quick post workout meal. The atmosphere here is amazing too and the employees are super friendly and approachable. On my first day of checking out the gym, it seemed very intimidating with all the fancy equipment and people who looked incredibly fit. However, I had the pleasure of being welcomed by a young gentleman named Thomas who introduced me to the space in a very warm and welcoming way that made my experience way less intimidating. Overall, I’ve been very inclined to go to the gym and has been enjoying my workouts just as much as everything here feels awesome. It also has my favourite quote on the wall haha.

Edit: Changing my rating from 4 stars to 3 stars because you’re not allowed to use plates to elevate the bar when doing exercises such as the Pendlay Row. I had been doing this for a few weeks without issue, but a staff member told me to stop today. They have since added one chest-supported T-bar row, which is a welcome addition.
Overall, this is a good gym and one I enjoy training at. The space looks modern, the atmosphere is solid, and it clearly caters well to serious lifters—especially those focused on the heavy compounds lifts. That said, there are some very specific (and avoidable) shortcomings with the cable machines, certain equipment, and staff behavior that hold it back from being better than just good.
Pros
The gym looks clean, modern, and well-designed
Good number of squat racks and deadlift platforms, which is a huge plus during peak hours
The overall vibe is good—it feels like a place meant for serious lifting
Smart layout: squat racks are positioned right beside the powerlifting section
Eleiko dumbbells are excellent, with them having thicker handles
Lockers are large
Showers are aesthetically pleasing and looks modern
Cons
All cable machines are Technogym and on the lower end, even by Technogym standards
No 5 lb increments on lat pulldowns, seated cable rows, and several other pulleys
Many machines jump up in 10 lb increments only (30, 40, 50, etc.), which makes progressive overload unnecessarily frustrating
Only one rear delt reverse fly / pec deck machine in the entire gym and it is always occupied, regardless of time (9am, 11am, 3pm—doesn’t matter). It also only goes up in 10 lb increments
No chest-supported T-bar rows
Weight calibration is off. Most of the pulleys will feel 20–30 lbs heavier than equivalent weights at other gyms. Example, tricep pushdowns that would normally be 45–75 lbs elsewhere feel closer to 15–45 lbs here
The rear delt reverse fly / pec deck feels 10–15 lbs heavier than the equivalent at other gyms
Two pulleys cannot be height-adjusted at all
Cleaning baskets are all over the place—some on the floor, some on garbage bins, etc
Showers use frosted glass doors, they look nicer than wooden doors, but are a downgrade for privacy
Lockers are large but lack shelves
Staff and personal trainers treat members differently based on looks, age, or perceived strength
Front desk staff will greet some lifters but not others
Personal trainers are more likely to approach people they deem “small” or not strong enough to their standards
Tripods and bags are still often left everywhere on the ground
Suggestions for Improvement
Add 5 lb increments to cable machines, lat pulldowns, seated rows, the rear delt / pec deck machine along with the other machines that don't have 5lb increments
Add more cable machines
Add more rear delt reverse fly / pec deck machines. 1 more is the minimum, 2 would be good, 3+ would be ideal
Add chest-supported T-bar rows
Add more cleaning baskets and wall-mount some of them
Replace the two non-adjustable pulleys with adjustable ones
Final Thoughts
This gym has a strong foundation: good atmosphere, solid free-weight setup, and a modern look. For lifters who prioritize the heavy compound lifts it does a lot right. However, inconsistent cable equipment, limited machine variety, and noticeable staff bias keep it from being a 5-star gym. With a few targeted upgrades and better staff consistency, this could easily become one of the best gyms in the Burnaby / Vancouver area.
