I hosted my salon business here for 2.5 years. Unfortunately I would not recommend it to other hairstylists. The main reasons being that the plumbing simply can not handle the constant use that hairstylists require to run their business. The sinks clog every single week, making it near impossible to rinse out a clients colour without having to wait almost 10 minutes for the sink to drain, only for it to fill right back up again. To me, this is indicative of a larger problem that needs to be addressed but the only solution offered is the owner coming to drain the hair trap in the sink. Perhaps it would be manageable for an esthetician business, but not hair. The other reason being that there is not much communication between yourself and the owner of Citizen. He is hard to get ahold of because he is the main point of contact for all of the locations within Alberta and BC. Lastly, for two weeks after my lease was over, the owner continued to take rent out of my account and was non responsive for several days after I reached out to him (Rent is taken out via automatic withdrawals on a weekly basis). The money was eventually returned to me but it is very unprofessional to take nearly $1000 from someone after the end of a lease and not even respond promptly, be apologetic at all or offer a timeline of when they can expect the money to be returned to them. It gives the impression that they do not care. It’s unfortunate because the concept is great and so is the location. Good luck!

Definitely the best haircut experience I've ever had! Much better than your ordinary barber shop, especially if you're looking to provide your hair stylist with specific instructions and you'd like for them to stick to them. My haircut cost $60 dollars and included a wash, if you've never had one it's worth it purely for that experience alone. My haircut was an 11/10 and after I was told that If I come in in a month a trim would be free which is great. I don't think I'll be returning to a regular barber anytime soon, definitely recommend this place for anyone who is looking for a high quality haircut. The staff is great and friendly and the atmosphere is unmatched.

Elsa at L-SUSU is amazing! She coloured, sourced and put in my extensions and they are incredible. So easy to wear and maintain. Her technique is very unique and the best I have ever experienced. She also does my cut and colour. I have never received so many compliments on my hair! On top of her super impressive skills, Elsa is the kindest human on the planet. She is so hardworking and really listens to her clients. I can’t say enough about Elsa. She is truly the best and I would recommend her to anyone.

I got hair extensions done at Studio L'Susu Hair by the amazing Elsa Hailemariam and oh my word they changed my life. First, Citizen Salon is such a great space, it's so neat and clean and houses many wonderful stylists. Secondly, Elsa has been the most amazing hair stylist I have had the pleasure of working with. My extensions are absolutely lovely and have made me feel so confident and amazing. I've seen Elsa just a few times, but it feels like I have known her forever, she is a bubbly amazing person who makes you feel so comfortable from the moment you book your appointment to the moment you leave the chair. I 100% recommend her and this studio as it's been the best experience ever. Love, love LOVE!
