I recently became a patient of Dr. Anik Popat after moving away from the area where I’d seen the same dentist from childhood into my mid-thirties. For most of my life, dental work never phased me. I was actually someone who liked going to the dentist. That shifted after I got COVID and developed dysautonomia.
Because of dysautonomia, my nervous system sits in a kind of hyper-alert state and doesn’t regulate adrenaline properly. Even small amounts stay in my system longer than they should. When dentists use lidocaine with epinephrine, it pushes the body into fight or flight for people with hyperadrenergic POTS, because our systems are already running on excess adrenaline and can’t process it properly. It can make for a very frustrating visit to the dentist.
After moving, I started going to a clinic in my neighbourhood. A filling from that clinic fell out shortly after it was done, and when I tried to get it repaired, the dentist wasn't able to finish because my system reacted so badly to the freezing. I tried two other dentist offices after that but both appointments felt rushed and impatient, which only made things worse. By the time I found Dr. Popat, I was worn down and nervous about trying again.
What stood out right away was his patience. He offered a short meet-and-greet before booking anything, which helped me feel like I wasn’t walking into another overwhelming appointment and was met with care. On the day of the procedure, I brought a friend for support. He started with the freezing without epinephrine, the gentler option for people with conditions like mine, and we worked up in increments to see if it would hold. When it still wasn’t quite enough, we added a small amount of lidocaine with epinephrine halfway through, and he paced everything so my system could keep up.
He checked in often, adjusted things without rushing, and let me pause whenever I needed to. There was no sense of frustration from him, even though this was my third attempt at fixing the same tooth and I know it couldn’t have been an easy appointment to navigate.
We eventually finished the procedure after some trial and error, and I left with a real sense of relief from finally being treated with care, and not being made to feel like an inconvenience while managing a health condition that already feels hard to carry.
Thank you so much, Dr. Popat. I plan to stay with this clinic.

Walked in with an untreated broken tooth that needed some serious work and they were able to help me that day and book me in for the rest of the job very soon afterwards. Have been coming here for about three years since. Always extremely friendly and helpful, you feel like you are respected as a patient and taken excellent care of by all the staff from dentists to hygienists to receptionists

Amazing experience! They fixed my chipped tooth really well and made me feel super comfortable throughout the whole visit. The dentist explained everything clearly and made sure I was okay every step of the way. Everyone here is so kind, professional, and really knows what they’re doing. I’m extremely happy with the results and would highly recommend this place!

I highly recommend Dr Anik and his team. They are very professional, patient and gentle and their communication is very clear which is extremely important for my family and I. They walk me through the entire process from start to finish so I know exactly what to expect. They go through everything in detail and are very thorough with their work. They are also very accommodating as I often have to bring my young child with me to my dental appointments, but they are so friendly that my child enjoys coming to the appointments with me.
If you are looking for a new dentist, please go and see Dr Anik and his team!

I never had sensitive teeth before coming to this clinic. Unfortunately, after my visit, one of my rear teeth was completely damaged and has become extremely sensitive.
I don’t recall the name of the female dentist who treated me, but from the beginning she was strongly pushing me toward getting a bridge, even though I clearly stated that I wanted an implant. During the appointment, she removed an existing filling and shaved the tooth much deeper, dangerously close to the nerve. She then insisted on using a metal (silver) filling, despite my request for a white composite filling. I later learned that metal fillings can cause significantly more sensitivity—which is exactly what happened.
Since that visit, I’ve had severe, ongoing sensitivity in that specific tooth. On my next appointment, I specifically told her that the tooth had become extremely sensitive and that eating ice cream or anything cold caused sharp pain. Her response was simply to “stay away from ice cream.” That is a completely unacceptable and dismissive response. This tooth was perfectly fine before the filling, and telling a patient to avoid cold foods instead of addressing the problem is not proper dental care.
What’s even more concerning is that she mentioned she “doesn’t like doing root canals,” which I found very strange and unprofessional. That tooth never needed a root canal prior to this visit, and I firmly believe the damage was caused during the treatment.
As for the other dentist, Dr. Anik Popat, appointments are equally frustrating. In a one-hour scheduled visit, he spends a large portion of the time explaining cavities in excessive detail, only to finally start working on the tooth and then run out of time before completing the treatment. This happened repeatedly, leaving my dental issue unresolved.
Something feels very wrong at this location. Between aggressive upselling, rushed or incomplete treatments, and the damage done to a previously healthy tooth, my experience was extremely negative. In my opinion, this clinic appears more focused on selling procedures than on patient care. Proceed with caution.
