We had a wonderful experience at SPCA Penticton and are so grateful for the care our cat received from Dr. Mike and the entire team. We really appreciated the separate cat and dog entrances and the calm environment, which made visits much less stressful for our cat. We also loved that they use Feliway pheromone diffusers in the exam rooms. All of the receptionists have been friendly, polite, and very helpful, especially with forwarding emails to Dr. Mike and keeping us informed. Dr. Mike diagnosed our cat with diabetes and worked closely with us on a treatment plan. It was very overwhelming at first, but he was always calm, patient, and thorough. We never felt rushed or like our questions were a bother. We truly felt valued and well cared for, and our cat was in excellent hands. We would highly recommend them.

I have had Dr. Rook recently and she has been amazing with my pug and my cat. I have had Dr. Mike and Dr. Kevin also. This clinic tries to get you in on short notice and i have been so impressed on how this clinic operates. I felt compassion, kindness and great knowledge from each one of these vets

My cat suddenly became lethargic and stopped eating and drinking . I took her in and saw Dr. Rook, a new Vet to us who does not know my cat. The appointment was a mess. Dr. Rook was unable to communicate effectively, displayed strange inappropriate behaviour and did not listen. The room was absolutely freezing and my very sick cat was shivering. At this point my cat had not eaten for almost 72 hours. I was sent home with fluids to give her and told to contact them if she continues to not eat because she could develop a fatty liver. I called 2 days later which would be 5 days of my cat not eating or drinking. Dr. Rook wanted to do bloodwork and x-rays and it needed to be done under sedation. I agreed and came back later that day to pick her up. After waiting for a long time in the waiting room Dr. Rook came in without my cat. They told me that the blood work was normal but that she could still have things that didn’t show up. Her abdominal x-ray may show that she has an obstruction, or it could be nothing?! This time I paid $760 combined with the first visit brought my total to $905. I was sent home with more fluids and antibiotics and was told that if she didn’t improve in 3 more days, tomorrow will be 6 days without eating or drinking, they would suggest surgery even though they aren’t even certain there is an obstruction?!? No info on how I can get nutrients into my cat I guess I just wait around for her to starve to death. I went out to reception and again my cat was not there, I had to ask for her and they didn’t bring her out till I had paid the bill and was ready to walk out the door. I guess they wanted to make sure they got their money even though they provided zero care. It’s just a guessing game and I have paid them every dime I have and had to borrow to pay them and for what??!! So I can go home and wait for her to die?! This is unbelievable! Completely and utterly dismissive. The response to my review completely undermines what I had said and what my concerns are. The vet did the same thing.

I took my cat in with a U.T I and they were the only vet that could get him in immediately. They explained everything to me, provided medication and the fee was not as bad as I had expected.I will definitely be back for a follow up to see how he's doing in a couple of weeks and thankful for the wonderful service I received. Thankyou for everything.
