I went for a pedicure for the first time just the day- after talking to some friends with esthetic experience they brought some red flags to my attention. The lady who did my pedicure sliced me with the emery board. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize what happened until I got home as I thought maybe she just hit a rough spot on my foot as it was my first time. I thought maybe she sliced me- how her I wasn’t sure right aways. Mistakes happen. After speaking to a few friends regarding my experience they noted that they should have used basin liners in the tub for pedicures to help for extra precaution for infection control. I also realized that the lady took the spatula and scooped out scrub and rubbed in onto her gloved hands that just finished touching my foot and then went into the scrub and grabbed more with the spatula and put some more on her gloves that touched my skin. The spatula that was in contact with the scrub was in contact with my skin… thirdly, they parfin waxed my foot and I dipped it three times in a massive foot basin. This is very apparent that they use it for multiple people as I was told you should never double dip. After speaking to a few friends in esthetics- it concerns me the sanitary practices of the facility. Now- after the experience over the past few days my foot has infection.
