I’ve been coming to this clinic with my Siberian cat for a couple of years and have generally had good experiences. However, today’s visit was extremely upsetting. I came in for an emergency because my male cat had not urinated in over 16 hours and was covered in his own diarrhea when I got home from work. When I tried to clean him, he showed significant pain and distress. Multiple vets, including this office—have warned me in the past that urinary blockage in male cats is life-threatening and an emergency. When I explained the situation at the front desk, the staff member responded with visible annoyance and asked, “Did you even call?” There was no expression of concern, no empathy, no acknowledgment of how stressful the situation was, and not even a question about my cat—his name/my name, nothing. When I said I hadn’t called because I believed this was an emergency and rushed over, he replied, “Well, we have other patients too,” then rolled his eyes and sighed. I was honestly shocked. I wasn’t expecting them to cancel others for me but atleast check with doc, check-in with me? Ask me questions? Take some additional history and just say words of comfort? What healthcare professional rolls their eyes and sighs at someone who is clearly distressed and seeking help for their pet baby? There was zero compassion. He then said, “I’ll add you in today, but next time don’t come without calling.” At that point, I walked away. I am a dentist, and I cannot imagine ever treating a patient, or allowing my front desk staff to treat a patient, in a possible emergency situation with such dismissiveness and lack of basic kindness. Technical care aside, compassion and professionalism matter. Took my baby 5 mins down the road to Dunbar Animal Hospital who were more that happy to see him, took immediate care of him and above all treated us with basic kindness and empathy.

Genuinely care about your pet and you. I was given multiple options for my cats treatment, they were able to follow up with results on the phone so I didn’t worry. Very happy with this clinic.

I credit Alta Vista Animal Hospital for saving my kitten’s life after she was diagnosed with FIP by another vet. The other vet was great too but could not source the required medication. Drs Munjal and Sethi were amazing and able to get her the medication. They were also so compassionate through the process and have consistently given her thorough exams and evidence based care. The vet assistants there are also great. Mishti is doing very well now thanks to them - without them she may not be alive now. Also the cost of their services is very good. Would highly recommend them.

Staff is amazing! They go above and beyond to help my pets. I have two elderly cats, one diabetic 1 hyperthyroid and it took us a couple of years and numerous different veterinarian offices to finally find Alta vista. They have provided the best care and value available by far in Vancouver. We no longer need to look elsewhere for care . Sneakers and Bella highly recommend Alta Vista Animal Hospital and so do I.

We’ve had two cats cared for by Dr. Munjal—Pussy Galore and Lady Marmalde—over the past 14+ years. Dr. Munjal and the staff are reponsive and caring, and have provided excellent care to our girls over the years.I highly recommend Alta Vista Animal Hospital.
