If you have ever thought about doing boudoir, I highly recommend working with Star from Acts of Beauty. I had my first shoot recently and let me tell you, I was terrified, who wouldn’t be, right?! but the experience was I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E. Most of us are not used to being so vulnerable with our bodies especially if we fall outside the “standard definition of beauty and size”. If I could look you in the eyes while you read this review… I would tell you straight up – I have never felt more beautiful in my life. I was instantly comfortable with Star, my anxiety and fears melted away and what I was left with was this feeling of feminine empowerment. During the session (I’m talking 20 minutes in) I started having input on what kind of photos or poses I would like. Star gave pose pointers and direction but ultimately (with her guidance), I did what I felt good with my body. For those who have experienced a dysphoric relationship with their bodies, this was magical and dare I say – healing. I don’t consider myself unattractive by any means, but I felt sexy and desirable in a way that I hadn’t experienced before. I am so excited for the photos. I didn’t do this to prove to myself that I am beautiful – I know I am. I did it because I wanted to do something for just myself and celebrate my body. The whole experience – hair and makeup (shoutout to Michelle – you are amazing!) – and the actual shoot was phenomenal. Cannot recommend enough.

Before my experience with Star at Acts of Beauty Photography, I never felt so comfortable in my own skin. I had gone through a horrible, personal experience and was searching for ways to help remind myself of my self-worth, and Star wound up being it. I was provided tips and tricks, the lines of communication were always open so I could ask questions, and both Star and Michelle make an amazing team and make you feel like yourself (but enhanced). Now I have a beautiful, lasting reminder that I am worth it (whatever "it" might be).

My first shoot with Star was absolutely life changing. For the first time in my life, I was able to see myself as others saw me, and not as my own brain told me I was. I was beautiful...more than that, I was *incredibly hot*. Michelle (the make up and hair artist) was wonderful and made me feel comfortable and pretty before the first picture was ever taken. Star has an uncanny knack for making you feel incredibly comfortable without a stitch of clothing on! Run, don't walk, to book your session.

I did my shoot in Feb 2019, Star and Michelle gave me the most amazing experience. I was neverous. They treat you like an old friend. My photos are amazing. I love them. When I am IAM feeling less then confident I will pull them up on my phone and they give me the boost I need. Star told me me I had grace like a dancer when I was losing which stuck with me. Take the plunge and book the shoot.

This boudoir photoshoot was such an amazing experience, completely outside of my comfort zone, but I’m so glad I did it! From start to finish, both Star and Michelle made me feel incredibly comfortable, supported, and beautiful. Michelle, who did my hair and makeup, was absolutely incredible. She created a natural look that still felt like me, just the most beautiful version! I honestly felt the prettiest I’ve ever felt. Star was amazing behind the camera! Her direction, energy, and warmth made it easy to let go of my nerves and just enjoy the experience. I left the shoot feeling confident, empowered, and proud of myself! If you’re considering a boudoir shoot, don’t hesitate. You deserve to feel this beautiful!
