I cannot recommend 186 St Animal Hospital enough! From the moment we walked in, the staff was warm and welcoming. The doctor always takes the time to thoroughly examine my cat and explain all treatment options without ever making me feel rushed or pressured.
What sets them apart is their genuine care and gentleness, both from the doctor and the assistants. Thank you to the wonderful team for all you do!

Absolutely grateful for the incredible team at 186 Street Animal Hospital. They took exceptional care of my Pomeranian, Lola, after a frightening eye injury. From the moment we arrived, the staff and vet treated her like a VIP, with so much gentleness, skill, and heart. Their quick action and thoughtful updates helped ease my worry, and Lola made a remarkable recovery thanks to their expertise. Thank you!

We’ve been bringing Monty to 186 Street since he was a puppy, and I can’t say enough good things about the team here. He’s had a few illnesses, procedures, and all his regular vaccines done, and the doctors and staff have always been amazing. They explain everything clearly, take such good care of him, and treat him like their own. I know Monty isn’t always the easiest patient, but they always make him feel comfortable, which really puts my mind at ease! We drive to the clinic from White Rock because the care and service here are just that good. You can tell everyone truly loves what they do. We’re so grateful for the whole team at 186 Street, a big thanks from Monty and his family!♥️🐾🏥

On October 6th, I took my senior cat to this vet to check him out for his declining health. He was nearly 20 years old, and I was aware of his impending need of a long sleep. I remember starting the appointment with saying something along the lines of "I know he is old, please be honest etc.."
The consultation was done, he was checked out. He had lost a significant amount of weight in the few months prior to the appointment, but was brought in with what presented as an upper respiratory infection.
It was suggested I do a blood test and a urinalysis with him, which I agreed to, but what was also suggested for testing was upwards of $1500 total. I decided to do the blood test and the urinalysis, which was the bare minimum. He was given a prescription for an antibiotic, we paid around $600, and were told we would have the results in a day or two.
Two days later on the 8th of October, I still had not heard any results, and after monitoring my cat for 24 hours, he hadn't eaten, hardly moved and was severely lethargic. I decided to take him into the Fraser Valley 24 Hour Clinic (in Langley -- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) for an assessment and euthanasia.
The Dr that looked over him said that yes, he was old, he seemed to just be fading from age, and that his opinion was he should be put to sleep, but the final decision was obviously up to me. I sent my little man to Valhalla that day.
On October 8th, as soon as I got home from my appointment, I called 186 St Animal Hospital, and explained that my cat had passed away, and that I no longer needed his test results. The receptionist was cold, and just said they'd put a note on my file and hung up quickly. Rude, and heartless, but whatever.
TODAY, October 22nd I got a call from 186 St Clinic TO SCHEDULE A FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENT. Yes! A follow up. At least this time, the receptionist had a heart, and had some compassion, apologized, and transferred me to the vet.
I was given the "sorry, sorry, etc" treatment, going around in circles. A refund was offered -- but at what cost? Bringing up my pet death trauma now WEEKS LATER after I had already contacted to office to explain he had died? Thanks for that.
The vet was understanding, but I am not looking for a refund or understanding. I really wish there was some sort of justice at the end of all this, but what it comes down to at the end of the day, was the vet was too afraid to admit my cat was dying from old age (when I specifically asked if euthanasia would be the right choice) - and all I got was DO TESTS! Throw money at it! I did have more to say to him, but I'd gone around a thousand times with just dumbfounded silence and sorry's, but my phone died, so here I am.
I will be making sure no one I know ever visits this vet hospital, and hope no one has to deal with whomever these careless receptionists were. If you love your pet and want honesty -- do not do business here.
EDIT: The response given below is not acceptable. I spoke with the vet on the day I was called about the appointment for my already dead pet, about change, how this could have been handled, etc -- I was basically ran around in circles, with the vet saying he understood. I gave my recommendations, I made my voice heard, but I was not heard. This will happen again. My words still stand -- DO NOT GO HERE, UNLESS YOU WANT TO SPEND MONEY THAT IS WASTED ON AN AGING PET WHOM IS FADING FROM AGE.
Honesty is the best policy. If your customer asks for honesty (like I did -- asking if my senior cat was at the end of his life) GIVE THEM HONESTY. I extended my boy's life because I was led to believe that some magical medical care would help him, when a simple "it's his time" would have been appropriate, and I would have accepted it right then and there. We're not all weak-minded when it comes to our pet, and some of us can handle the impending death of our pets.
Test results given were that he was biologically healthy, just old. So I was taken for my money because I loved my pet. Thank you again for extending my grieving period with your poor service and lack of honesty.

We have been going to 186 Animal Hospital for the last 2 years since we moved to Clayton Heights, but I am very disappointed with them and question their professionalism and compassion towards pets.
On Monday, April 8 2024, we sent our dog to undergo a dental cleaning procedure.186 Animal Hospital offered to give him a free nail. I appreciated their proactive effort, but the way it was done was truly unacceptable.
The next day, I called them to provide feedback on how the trim was done very carelessly, resulting in nail bed damage and blood stains on all 4 paws. The staff from the clinic denied all fault and said when he was discharged everything was good and that the bleeding must be from my dog licking his own paw. I received no apology.
I attempted to communicate with them again the day after, asking them to provide me with antibiotic ointment to ensure no infections arise. She replied that it's not a thing and that there is nothing they can do. Again no apology.
My dog is now traumatized and won’t let us touch his paws. After 2 phone calls and 1 email, I received no apology. Their behavior is disgusting and I would not trust them with my dogs again.
I do not recommend 186 animal hospital to anyone. Please take your pets else where!
